Featured Artist, March 24: DeathCutlet

DeathCutlet's drawings are mainly pencil works, sometimes with a color pencil layer. Character expressions and cartoonish elements are the main focus in them, and they are really effective at getting emotions and settings across without using any words.



Being it a pencil or color pencil work, the shading and blending techniques are pretty solid. Textures, like manes, grass, cloth folds and feathers, are well defined and nicely done.

Tricky Belle

This is one of DeathCutlet's best works. Sweetie Belle's coveting face was done in a cartoonishly exaggerated way, yet it is still believable. Rarity's reluctant face is great, and the line just below her eye hints at Rarity actually forcing her face, and perhaps starting to give in to her sister's wishes.

As for the background, it's not something very elaborated but it clearly depicts the Carousel Boutique, with one diamond-painted column and bow-embedded curtains being elements one could find there.
